Türk İşaret Dili Eğitimi
There are many hearing impaired individuals in today's societies, and these individuals are able to communicate with nonverbal mechanisms among themselves. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the French Sign Language alphabet, the vocabulary, the structure and the communication power of sign language through examples.
The research method of the study is descriptive analysis. In this respect, the influence of monks and monastic life on the emergence of French Sign Language is quite vital.

Together with this, it appears that after the French Revolution in , sign language began to emerge from the monopoly of religious institutions. As it is known, all sign languages have their own structural features, and this is true for French Sign Language as well. Different words can be described in French sign language, sometimes with a single sign, sometimes with various variables facial expressions, gaze, body posture, mouth movement, etc.
Even, the position of the sign head, face, chest, abdomen level provides supporting information about the expression to be described. However, misdoing of one of these variables causes misunderstanding of feelings, thoughts or information. On the other hand, other expressions out of the sign language dictionaries such as numbers, days, months, seasons, trademarks, person and city names are shown in signs in the alphabet. These expressions can be made by shortening in sign language as well as in writing language, and with a new variable added to the sign such as rotation, shaking, flipping.
